Picture: To the bone (2017)

:::::::::: Spoiler alert ::::::::::

To tell you the truth guys, this isn't the best movie of the year or the best movie I've ever watched nor winning an oscar award. The rate is only 6.9/10 on Internet Movie Database. But what I try to tell you is How this story can changed your perspective.

To the bone has competition at Sundance Film Festival at first and then released on January 2017 distributed by Netflix.

The cast is my favorite girl Lily Collins as Ellen/Eli who suffered from an eating disorder called Anorexia. In order to suit for the role, Lily had to lose weight. She revealed that She had been trying to lose weight under the supervision of a Nutritionist and surrounded by supported environment on set. What an effort, Lily.

The story is about Ellen who have been battling her twentys as Anorexia Nervosa patients, and showed no progress every each day. She has a complicated life and broken family that gave the bad impact to her mental. Eating disorder sounds unreasonable, right? I mean what the heck, it's only about bite and chew and swallow. Beside, food is tasty... so what's the problem? I admit, I was being ignorant at first but what we need to know is THIS IS THE REAL ISSUES  for some people who have an eating disorder. They get really obsessed with low weight, to be supper thin, the fear of gaining weight haunting them everytime they face the food. It makes them refuse to swallow the food. Otherwise, they're gonna eating on table and spewing the food right after. Not only that, they usually exercise just to make sure not a single calories enter the body. Sounds scarry enough?

Struggling through the phase, Ellen stepmother's finally found the best doctor in town who always succeed handling his patients. Ugh this is my favorite part.. Dr Beckham played by Keanu Reeves *lovestruck*. Long story short, Ellen agree to grant her family's wishes to attend an in-patient program. She moves to a house and lived with six other patients there. Dr. Beckham feels Ellen hate herself and her life, so he find a way to make Ellen feel like a brand new person. He asked Ellen to changed her name into Eli. She bond with Dr. Beckham very well. One day, Dr. Beckham invited them to a secret field trip. They come to a dark room full of artificial rain. The meaning of the rain is He wants them to be grateful with their lives and feel the lives itself. Not long enough though, An accident happen at the house, it make her thinking that this treatment won't work for any of them. Her belief of Dr Beckham slowly fading and breaks into fragments. Her body is getting worse and worse every single day. She shrunk into chronic depression.

This is what Dr Beckham said to her when they had an argument before Eli leaves the house.

"Stop waiting for live to be easy. Stop hoping for somebody to save you. Face some hard facts and you could have an incredible life. Bad things are going to happen, that's not negotiable. What is, is how you deal with it."

Eli return to her mother's home. But on that moment, she finally find a good reason to stay alive again.

Well, it may be the time for us to take a serious look at our awareness of Mental Disorder. Many victims of this case are too scared to show their true colors because of social stigmas and find it taboo. Some people think they're insane, a freak, or being possessed by the demons. What happen if they didn't get any help from us? Suicide happens. So, let's stop being such a judgemental and be more considerate and understand enough to give them the needed support. And whoever struggle into this, you should know that no one is going to push you except yourself. You have to get up with your own shoes and fight with your own self. There are so many people out there who wants to have life. If you have one, do not waste it. Stay alive.

Highlights of my Holiday in Medan:

Sri Mariamman Temple is located in three different places; Singapore, Penang, and Medan North Sumatera. Clearly, I've visited the one in Medan. This is my first experience visiting India's Temple.

"Hindu is the first and the oldest religion in the world. Buddha, Jewish, Christian, and Islam renew the theory. Basically, all religions teach us a same lesson. It's about kindness."

Said one of Dewanagari à¤ªà¤£्डित / Pandita there which made me automatically nodded. He wore an orange cloth wrapped around his body, with a Bindi on his forehead (Bindi is a red dot on the forehead. It's a symbol as the third chakra of intelligence and beauty, and can protect it from bad luck).

Sri Mariamman was built in 1884 in Little India (Kampung Keling) in Medan for the worship of Goddess Mariamman. According to Hindu beliefs, Goddess Mariamman is the goddess of Rain and also have a power to cure many diseases, outbreaks of severe illnesses.

The architecture's color is quite amusing with very unique ornaments on every wall. Inside the temple, there are three chambers on the corner are known as Lord Vishnu-Siva-Brahma. I saw one of Indian entered the room and pray there.

The locals are very amicable, when they saw us wanted to see the temple they got really excited. They guide us to put our shoes outside the temple first, and then let us in. Anyway, if you're on your period you 're not allow to get into the temple (Same rule for the mosque, right?).

So here it is... Check out some photos that I took~
If you want to experience India's atmosphere in Indonesia, you should come and visit this temple.
